The most critical factor in the treatment of an impending heart attack is receiving immediate medical attention. The Chest Pain Center at Fairview Hospital, located in the Emergency Department, physicians are trained to recognize warning signs and conduct the most appropriate tests to determine the true origin of the pain. This critical process is completed in only minutes from the time the patient initially walks through the Department’s doors.
The Emergency Department physicians work closely to collaborate with the Cardiologists of Fairview’s Heart Center to ensure that safe, timely care is delivered to all cardiac patients. CRUSADE is a national database that identifies treatment strategies for Acute Coronary Syndrome patients. Fairview is ranked #8 out of 376 hospitals in the overall care of these patients.
High quality and experienced emergency care begins far before the patient arrives at the hospital. Fairview Hospital provides Continuing Medical Education and direction to 8 suburban fire departments and works with the City of Cleveland’s Emergency Medical Services and Fire Department to help ensure patients receive the most appropriate treatment while en route to the hospital.
