After Delivery - Classes and Support

 LACTATION CONSULTANT SERVICES

Our internationally board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLC) will help you learn all you need to know for successful breast-feeding. In addition to classes, they are available for private consultations or to answer questions on the breast feeding helpline.

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays      1:00 to 3:00 p.m.    Free
Meets at the Fairview Wellness Center
A support system for breastfeeding mothers. Group setting, but individual advice and attention from a lactation consultant provided. Problem solving for engorgement, latching on, weaning, pumping and storing milk, growth spurts, etc. Mothers only for privacy reasons. Registration not required. NEW MOTHER'S SUPPORT GROUP

Tuesdays      10:00 a.m. to noon      Free
Fairview Wellness Center
This group is a great way to meet other moms with infants, sharing ideas, frustrations, and solutions. Group is facilitated by a RN. Designed for mothers with babies ages newborn to one year. Non-mobile infants welcome. 

INFANT MASSAGE

Infant massage is a holistic and natural way to promote infant health and deepen the bond between child and parent. Through nurturing touch, massage and reflexology, you will learn how to improve your baby's healthy development of mind, body and spirit. (Birth to 6 months).  Registration required. NEW!!       PARENTING 101

Becoming a parent brings new challenges to life! Now that you've survived the first weeks at home with your newborn, this class covers common concerns for new parents of infants ages 6 weeks to a year. Topics include: encouraging healthy sleep; feeding tips for introducing solids; making the most of infant/parent interaction through "play"; developmental milestones'; returning to work; and returning life to the new "normal."

 

CARDIOVASCULAR SCREENING FOR WOMEN

Was your pregnancy complicated by any of the following conditions?

  • Preeclampsia/Eclampsia

  • Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH)

  • Gestational Diabetes

  • Placental Abruption

  • Placental Infarction

If so, you may have increased cardiovascular risk later in life.  If you are between the ages of 30-55 not currently pregnant and were diagnosed with one of the above conditions, then you are eligible for this free 30-minute cardiovascular screening event.
