Free Patient Forums on Medical Billing and Insurance
At Cleveland Clinic, our goal is to create a seamless clinical and financial process for our patients. Because medical billing and insurance often can be confusing, our Patient Financial Services department is holding free educational forums this fall to help people better understand the insurance and billing processes.

The cafeteria, located on the first floor, serves hot meals at the following times:
Breakfast menu 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Lunch 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Limited entrees,
soup, beverages 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dinner 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m
The cafeteria also has vending machines where beverages, candy and snacks can be purchased.

Case Mangement
The Department of Case Management includes social workers and nurses who are part of the healthcare team. Their role is to assess the total health needs of our patients and guide both the patient and family through the contiuum of care. Our services assist the patient and family in managing or resolving issues of a social, emotional, environmental or economic nature which arise from a patient's illness, disability and/or hospitalization or treatment. Staff are available24 hours a day through our on-call system. Please contact their office at ext. 27070 for additional information.

Coffee Stand (Java Espress)
Located in the first floor lobby of the Medical Building, the Java Espress offers coffee, tea, flavored coffees, cappuccino, mochas and soft drinks. In addition, cold beverages, pastries and sandwiches are available. Open Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m.- 7:30 p.m., Saturday 7:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Closed Sundays and legal holidays.

Discharge Information
Please be sure you have checked your room, closet and the table over your bed for any belongings. Upon discharge, you will be escorted via wheelchair to the first floor Surgery Center entrance. Discharge time is 11 a.m. If transportation home is necessary, please inform your nurse who will coordinate this need for you.
The doctor and nurse will give you written instructions on your care after discharge from the hospital. Please be sure to ask any questions about medications, diet, activity, or other health concerns at this time

Gift Shop
Our Gift shop is located on the first floor of the hospital near the outpatient surgery entrance. Hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; closed on legal holidays. Call 216-476-7000 for more information. All proceeds fund patient and hospital services.

Lifeline Emergency Response
This service assists both the disabled and elderly to continue to live independently without fear of being isolated in times of emergency. A 24-hour emergency response system links the subscriber's home to our hospital. For more information, please call 800-418-3837 or go to The Lifeline Program of Fairview, Lakewood and Lutheran Hospitals where you will be able to access detailed information about Lifeline, view photographs of the equipment and order the service.

Internet Accessibility
Fairview Hospital has public wireless Internet on all floors of the hospital, with the exception of the basement and sub-basement levels. Patients and visitors can access the Internet via a laptop computer inside the hospital, including the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center at Fairview Hospital, Moll Pavilion and the Center for Family Medicine. Generally, the access is to Internet sites via http, https and ftp. Other sites may be blocked by the firewall content-filter or IPS.

Fairview Hospital Flower Shop
At the Flower Shop you will find fresh cut floral arrangements, dry floral arrangements, balloons, plants and cookbooks. It is located in the main ParkView entrance just past the Health Center Pharmacy. Hours are Monday – Friday 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; closed on legal holidays. Call 216/476-7000 for more information. Pain Management
Fairview Hospital is committed to the identification of pain management as a priority in care and affirms that every patient will have access to the best level of pain relief that may be provided safely. Your caregivers will assess your level of comfort frequently throughout your stay. The assessment includes both the presence of pain as well as the intensity of pain and is measured by means of a pain scale numbered 0-10. An educational pamphlet, Pain Control - A Patient's Guide is included in the admission packet you received when admitted to your room. This guide will answer many questions you might have regarding pain control.

Parking -
Parking for visitors is available in the parking garage adjacent to the hospital. Fees are based on hourly, daily and weekly rates. Five-day and seven-day passes are available at discounted rates and can be purchased as you exit the garage.
Visitors and patients to the hospital should not park at the Center for Family Medicine or the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center Moll Pavilion. That surface parking is reserved for the patients and visitors to those buildings. Additionally, the parking lot of Thumb's Up Deli is private property and not associated with the hospital. Do not park your car in their lot as it will be towed.

Patient Advocates -
Fairview Hospital strives to provide service that meets or exceeds the expectations of our patients. In order to assure that all of your needs are being met, patient advocates are available in the hospital to assist you with any problems you may experience. In the event your expectations are not met or service is not as you anticipated, please feel free to contact our Patient Advocate Department. They will assist you in resolving your problems. By making us aware of your concerns you are helping us to continuously improve the service we offer to our patients.

Patient Meals
The menu you receive has been designed for a variety of food preferences and to meet your daily nutritional requirements. If your doctor ordered a special diet for you, you will receive a menu specific to your needs.
Meals are delivered to your room at approximately the following times:
Breakfast 8:15 a.m.
Lunch 12:15 p.m.
Dinner 5:15 p.m.
Menus are distributed early in the morning for you to make your dinner selection for that evening and breakfast and lunch selections for the following day. Please circle the items you have selected. Completed menus are collected by 10 a.m. A member of the nursing staff or Food & Nutrition will be pleased to assist you if you need help making your selections. Please leave your completed menu on the bedside table.
A pantry is located at the nursing station. Here you will find coffee and tea, a hot water dispenser, instant soup and other small snacks and beverages. A refrigerator, ice machine and microwave are also available for your convenience.
Patients may be required to fast before specific tests or procedures. Your meal will be served to you as soon as possible after the test or procedure is completed.

Television
A modern menu driven television system is provided in each patient room. This system provides free access to local programming, serenity/relaxation channels and patient education programs on demand.
You may also purchase a line-up of premium channel programming. Just follow the menu instructions on your television screen to activate this service. A complete channel listing can be found in your room.

Valuables / Hospital Safe
Patients are encouraged to send any items of value home with family members. If you do have items of value, they should be deposited into the hospital safe. Fairview assumes responsibility only for those articles placed in the hospital safe. Please ask your nurse if you require this service.

Visiting Hours -
Fairview Hospital visiting policies are designed to allow for convenient visiting by family and friends. Allowing for privacy, care requirements and patient preferences are the critical elements that must be considered.
Pediatrics
8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Maternity
1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Intensive Care Unit
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On the remainder of the hospital floors, visiting hours are flexible. Please limit the number of visitors (including children) to two at any one time. Anyone with a cough, cold, sore throat, or any contagious illness should avoid visiting a patient in the hospital.
Visitors may be requested to leave the room if a procedure or care needs to be performed and in the event of emergency situations. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
It is the discretion of the nurse to limit the number of visitors and/or length of visiting time if it interferes with the rest and recovery of the patient.

Visitor Badge System -
A permanent visitor badge system was started on August 14 to assure the safety and security of our patients, visitors, staff and physicians. The badge includes the visitor’s photo and in bold capital letters identifies the person as a VISITOR, VENDOR or OFFICIAL (with an oversight or regulatory agency). The badge includes the issue date, visitor name and hospital department they are visiting.
Visitors in the hospital from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and 24 hours on the weekends and holidays must obtain a badge from the ParkView Information/Security Desk. Individuals in the hospital prior to 7 p.m., but staying for the evening or overnight are asked to go to the information desk to pick up a badge. Visitors accompanying Emergency Department patients will be issued a temporary badge. Visitor badges may be obtained at any time and extended badges are available.
