Community Care Fund
Since October 2006, the Community Care Fund has assisted with over $5,000 of aid, including helping with rent, utilities, equipment, transportation, food, etc.
Fairview Hospital has cared about its surrounding community and let no barriers get in the way of patient's safety and wellness once they leave our hospital. One way this is capable is through the Community Care Fund. There are numerous examples as to how this fund has provided for people, and yet, no other Cleveland area hospitals fund in this manner. Here are just two examples in which this fund has made a difference...
-There was a 45 year old man who had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. He lost his job because of his illness and could no longer pay for his rent. The man did have a 22 year old son who was working full time, but he could not take on all the financial issues that were relating to his fathers illness. The Community Care Fund paid for a month of his rent and also gave him money to help purchase food and medical supplies.
-Three soon-to-be patients were traveling through Cleveland when they became ill and came to Fairview Hospital for assistance. They did not have any funds to buy a bus or plane ticket, so the Community Care Fund purchased tickets for them so they could return home.
Reach Out and Run (R.O.A.R.)
Reach Out and Run makes a difference in the lives of the most fragile patients at Fairview Hospital. The Community Care Charity 5K Race is a unique opportunity to impact the welfare of patients after they leave the care of the hospital. The proceeds from this event benefit the Community Care Fund which allows the Case Management Department to aid patients and their families in emergency situations. The funds directly benefit those who need it most. After an extended stay at Fairview Hospital some of the patients desperately wonder how they will purchase food for their families, pay for medical needs not covered by regular insurance, or even afford a bus trip home. The Community Care Fund provides short-term relief for those patients who normally would return to face these dilemmas. Through your participation you can make their welcome back into the community more comfortable. There are many opportunities to contribute to the well-being of the community, consider R.O.A.R. We sincerely hope you can find a way to particiapte and touch the lives of many.
