Chapel & Pastoral Care

Fairview Hospital, a faith-based, not-for-profit hospital, emphasizes a ministry to the whole person.  We believe that your spiritual well-being contributes to your physical health.  We encourage you to share important spiritual and/or cultural beliefs or traditions with us as part of your health care.

Pastoral care offers caring listeners who have been trained to help with your special needs as a hospital patient and those of your family.  Professionally trained chaplains are available to address your spiritual needs and concerns.  Our pastoral care staff is committed to respecting each person's faith, cultural beliefs and traditions.

A chaplain is usually in the hospital weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. At other times a chaplain is on-call. For patients identified as Catholic on the census report, a volunteer eucharistic minister will visit the patient daily. Protestant patients may also request communion, which will be provided by a Protestant Chaplain.

How to request a Chaplain:

A chaplain is available 24 hours a day and may be requested by:

  • Asking your nurse
  • Dialing 27067 (Pastoral Care)
  • Dialing “0” for the hospital operator and asking for the on-call chaplain to be paged.

Anyone may request a chaplain’s visit---you, a family member, your clergy, your doctor, or a member of the hospital staff.

We respond promptly to specific requests.  Regular visits are made to patient’s rooms as our time permits.

If you wish a visit from clergy of a particular faith or from your own pastor, priest or rabbi, our office will assist you.
